Tapestry of the North is an open, non-juried exhibition, hosted by the Northern region of the British Tapestry Group at three venues:  Farfield Mill, Sedburgh, Cumbria (17 September—25 December, 2025) Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, North Yorkshire (Spring—Summer, 2026 dtbc)  Bankfield Museum, Halifax (Autumn, 2026– Spring, 2027 dtbc)

The same exhibition will be hung in all venues, therefore, if a work is sold at or after the Farfield event it must still be available for the other venues.

Criteria for inclusion

Theme: Our Textile Heritage. This broad theme of textiles made in the north of England offers a wealth of possible interpretations to contemporary woven tapestry makers.

The BTG Northern Group would like to extend an invitation to all BTG members whatever their current level of expertise, to join in this celebration of woven tapestry. Weavers who are currently not members of the BTG are welcome to submit work subject to certain criteria (see Entry Fees below).
