Currently I enjoy this colour palette of yellow, green, white and black, and combinations of all those to create small weavings.
I like to combine other forms of 'making' using wrapping (I use wire and calico as a base to then wrap around) and sisal, fabric stiffener and acrylic paint to create forms to add another dimension to hold the weaving.

My tapestries are woven using cotton, wool and linen to reflect my love of the natural world. Inspiration comes from the realm of quantum physics; quantum theory embodies randomness whereby from the smallest subatomic particles, the complex world we now see materialised over time. When designing my tapestries I work with paint on large sheets of paper allowing the paint to flow and mix until images that I like emerge. I then translate those images into my woven artwork.

Windows let us see out to the world
The world is reflected in windows
Which is the true image - looking out or looking in?
Beach Hut Reflections, based on a copyright-free image from the internet, raised a key question about which way to weave it since it contained strong horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. Selecting colours to capture the areas of shadow, as well as the subtlety of the sunset over the ocean, also presented the need for constant attention.

The window box could be from anywhere; in this case the idea came from a French country retreat. The original image was simplified several times to reach the final design and then the piece.
One Small Wave

One Small Wave was a result of a week of weaving in Turkey where one of the exercises was to observe the sea and create a weaving from those observations. The weaving once off the loom created its own form which I then manipulated by using a soft wire.
