John Brennan: Mounting and Framing tapestries
2pm - 5pm
John’s workshop will discuss and show how to prepare, mount and frame tapestries for exhibitions and how there can be a difference in solo shows, group shows and those for private sales. Participants are invited to bring along their small unframed pieces to see the difference in mounts and frames on their work.
Mounting and framing can be a subject that opens a can of worms but a practical approach should help alleviate any doubts.
Louise Martin: Shaped Tapestries
10am - 5pm
This workshop will show you several ways to weave a tapestry in shapes other than the usual rectangle. With tricks and tips to get you started and advice as to what to look out for when using these techniques in your own tapestries.
To make the most of the day it would be helpful if you come with your loom warped. I would like it warped ready for two tapestries, one with around 20 warps, the other with around 40 warps. The sett is your choice.
As well as your loom please bring:-
Some weft ( fibre and colour of your choosing )
A few metres of extra warp
Scissors to cut paper and yarn
Tapestry supports if you use them
Bobbins or a fork
Ruler
Pen and paper for notes
Needles - tapestry and sewing
Masking tape
